Game Changer

Have you ever played Scrabble? If so, then you know that every letter matters because each carries a numerical weight. The letters you choose can be a game changer. But have you ever considered that  the words we use in everyday life matter in the same way? You see our words carry weight too. So much so that in some cases they can mean the difference between life and death.

Think about that...life or death. That's powerful!

Words matter. What we say matters.  What we read matters. What we choose to listen to matters. 

We've all benefitted from a timely encouraging word. And, unfortunately, we've all been the victim of a crushing word. We've been motivated/unmotivated, encouraged/discouraged, lifted up/put down, inspired/left hopeless, etc.

James 3:3-5 tells us that the tongue is a fire and can't be tamed.

"Now if we put bits into the horses' mouths so that they may obey us, we direct their entire body as well. Behold, the ships also, though they are so great and are driven by strong winds, are still directed by a very small rudder, wherever the inclination of the pilot desires. So also the tongue is a small part of the body, and yet it boasts of great things. Behold, how great a forest is set aflame by such a small fire!" 

But Proverbs 25:11 encourages us with these words.

"Like apples of gold in settings of silver is a word spoken in right circumstances."

Our tongues carry immense weight. Let's be sure our words are a game changer for someone today in a positive way. We can speak life into someone today! OUR word may spur them on during a challenging time, encourage them during a tough time, give them hope to keep going, let them know that it's okay to take that leap of faith, give them the confidence they need to succeed, or quite literally save their life.

Words matter. Speak life. Be a game changer!
